Still out here on Catalina and honestly not in a hurry to leave. Woke up kind of early today, walked down to the water and just sat there for a while before it got too hot out. The town of Avalon is small so you get used to it fast, same little shops, same golf carts driving around since regular cars aren't really a thing here. Had breakfast at a little diner near the harbor, nothing fancy, just eggs and toast, but it hit the spot after walking around all morning.
Spent most of the afternoon down by the water again, just kind of watching the boats come in and out. I met a girl at beach, and she also has a JournalNook. We talked a bit, turns out she actually lives here. Thought about doing the glass bottom boat tour but decided against it, maybe tomorrow if there's time before we leave. Dinner was at a place a few blocks up from the beach, had some fish tacos, can't remember the name of the restaurant but it was decent. Getting ready to head back to California in a few days so trying to enjoy the last bit of this before it's over. Nothing too exciting today, just a slow, easy day on the island.
Made it back home today. The ferry ride off the island was in the morning, a little choppy but nothing too bad. Got back to the mainland and then it was just the long drive up to Stockton, which always feels longer than it actually is. Traffic wasn't too bad until we got closer to home, then it slowed down like it always does this time of year.
Feels a little weird being back after being out on the island for so long. The house was hot since the air conditioning had been off the whole time we were gone, so the first thing was turning that on and letting it cool down. Unpacked, did some laundry, tried to get back into the normal routine of things. Already kind of missing Catalina a little, but it's good to be home too. Going to take it easy for the rest of the night and get back to regular life tomorrow.
Fucking HELL. Today I was driving to the Food 4 Less on Manthey Rd, and some JACKASS in a pickup truck slammed into my fucking car while I was inside. Luckily, the car wasn't totalled, and I could still drive it, but the goddamn prick that was driving the truck hit it right as I was leaving the store, I saw him drive away. I hate this goddamn city. At least I have my Modelo and my cigarettes. All that matters right now.
I miss Catalina.
Oh, shit. I still run this thing? That's cool. Yeah, I'm, sorry for the lack of updates since July 16th. I got my car fixed I think like a few months after it happened but it took a hefty amount of money out of my paycheck. No, I still don't know who did it. I just got out of work, I work at the Safeway on Pacific Ave. The pay is solid, to me of course. My coworkers are probably gonna be out partying on Halloween. Am I? Probaly not. I'm gonna be honest. I don't like partying. I think I might just smoke on my porch then watch Scream 4. I don't have many plans.
avalon_y02 - October 24th, 2011, 1:14 PMyou should come back out to the island for halloween sometime, it's dead quiet here this time of year, good if you hate parties too, we can hang out together
Something bad is happening, and I'm fucking scared. Today, on my drive home from work, the military, yes, the military, and the police, were setting up roadblocks on the road. I almost totalled my car from almost ramming into one in the pitch dark. The soldier that flagged my car looked pissed, he grabbed my shoulder and threw me out of my car. He aimed his gun at my head and forecefully grabbed my wrists and asked if I had any bites or if i've been violent or photophobic lately.
I said no, because I haven't. They detained me and I had to wait for an hour for them to release me, there were helicopters flying over Navy Drive. What the fuck is going on?? My neighborhood is usually loud, people blaring music, people outside on the streets, you get it. Now the only sound I hear is the I-5. Nonetheless, it is in my backyard, but I'm terrified. The local news are just calling it a "civil emergency" and that the "threat" should be assessed soon. My arm hurts like hell from slamming into the road. There are cars zooming past my road and people evaucating. I think it's me and the Indian family from New Delhi down the street left. I'm used to hearing ambulances and police cars in my town, I mean I literally live in Stockton, but they feel odd. I don't like it. It's different.
